Sound Off
Sound Off is a salon and concert series of sound art and experimental music. An intimate performance series, it connects audiences with composers, musicians, artists, and one another.

((audience)) was awarded a temporary office space by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Swing Space program for the period from July 2009 to May 2010. The office space allowed us to maintain unrestricted access to our building at 125 Maiden Lane; a consistent meeting place for ((audience)) interns and collaborators; a facility in which to store our archives, equipment and administrative work; and a site for performances and events such as Sound Off.
In keeping with our mission to provide and establish new contexts for sound art, ((audience)) invited a broad range of artists and performers to visit our headquarters in order to imagine aloud and together ways to acoustically activate the defunct office space. We hosted three Sound Off events including an opening night charrette; a performance by horn/electronics duo Twisty Cat and video artist Anastasia Osipova; an in-the-dark solo set by trombonist Sam Kulik; and a re-broadcast of sound artist Alexis Bhagat's "Lecture #2: On the Possibility of Life Without the Sun."
